Thank you for visiting our website! It is my hope for you to remember Robbie and see all the amazing accomplishments in his life and share with others our mission to assist families that have lost a loved one to a drunk driver. Robbie was born in Panorama City, California on April 23, 1963, and moved to South Florida when he was 2 years old. Robbie graduated from South Ridge High school in 1981 then attended Stetson College in Deland, Fl. After Stetson, he went on to Miami Dade community college and then to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. Robbie loved baseball and was an incredible pitcher! His love for the sport took him to the A A Division baseball for the Minnesota Twins organization in Orlando, FL from 1985-89. After an injury to his shoulder his pitching career was over. Robbie then went back to LSU to get his degree. He had an opportunity to go to Alaska to work for a private investigative company, but if that wasn’t enough Robbie was studying to get his contractors license so that one day when his dad retired he would be able to take over his company!
In 1993 Robbie decided to follow in his brother Danny’s footsteps and join the Florida Highway Patrol. Feb 26, 1994 Robbie and I Lisa Smith married and soon after that we had beautiful twins Taylor and Todd! On July 26, 1997 our lives changed forever. While on duty, Loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, Trooper Robert Glenn Smith was killed in his patrol car by a drunk driver..Robbie was a member of the tri-county DUI task force, and loved his work. He was dedicated to keeping our communities safe, and traveled our highways to save lives by getting drunk drivers off the road. In his 4 years with the Florida Highway Patrol, Robbie was in The One Hundred Club for arresting more than 100 drunk drivers.
